A live workshop on relationship-building as a means to build collective power and support the growth and sustainability of effective leadership teams.
Act Build Change | 12 Feb 2025 | Online

This interactive workshop, hosted by Dami Makinde and Ariel Lew Ai Le Whitson, shares best practices for building and facilitating organised and effective leadership teams. You will learn to identify the ways in which relationships are formed as a means to build collective power and support sustainable growth. Finally, we will reflect on the key components of caring and effective team cultures in your own work.
Dami has been organising for over a decade and now runs her own consultancy to support NGOs and Funders meet complex challenges with a particular focus on strategic planning, youth organising, facilitation, recruitment and funding committees. In 2019, Dami co-founded We Belong, an organisation that fights for the rights of young migrants in the UK, which led to major national campaign wins.
Ariel has over a decade of experience as a community organiser focused on social justice issues, primarily with environmental and land justice. Before joining Act Build Change, she was the Senior Director of Community Organising and Education at TreePeople, a leading Los Angeles-based NGO, where she led a team of 40 organisers and educators supporting communities impacted by climate change and environmental injustice. Prior to TreePeople, she ran major advocacy campaigns at Ten Strands, securing significant legislative and funding victories for climate literacy. Ariel is passionate about healing the violent separation of land and people through organising.
