Everyone Can Organise – Introducing Our New Curriculum
From coaching leaders to designing winning strategies – everything you need to become an effective community organiser in our transformative curriculum.
Ariel Whitson | 21 Nov 2025
A core value of Act Build Change is that learning how to organise should be accessible to everyone. In January, as part of our membership offer, we will be releasing our new transformative community organising curriculum. This will include 12 workshops and courses covering the foundations of transformative organising (as well as a revamped introductory training). Some of the training may look similar to what you have experienced with us before and some will be brand new.
We believe it is more important than ever to build collective power through transformative organising. This curriculum for Act Build Change is an action. It is guided by the needs of what we have heard, experienced, and learned from the incredible groups we work with. It is a resource that can support everyday people to have the opportunity to organise effectively and win real material change.
What is transformative community organising?
The curriculum centres on what we call, ‘transformative community organising’. This combines the principles of community organising with the practice of collective care. It teaches how to build our bases through committed relationships, develop each other as leaders around shared values, and strategise around winning material change. The care aspect supports us with organising for the long term through accountability, belonging, well-being and learning how to handle tension.
What is in the new curriculum?
The practices of organising and care take learning, action, and support. Those who have experienced our training know that we root our teaching in the doing. Our curriculum will provide both online content that you can work through at your own pace, and live workshops where our expert trainers will guide you through the practice of organising and care.
The first is Introduction to Transformative Community Organising, covering the basics of organising and care. Whether you are a new organiser or have been organising for many years, this training will challenge leaders to unpack and recentre on these practices. We will deliver this as a workshop every three months starting in January so members have multiple opportunities to participate.
In addition, we have our new foundations series – 11 trainings covering all of the essentials to become a community organiser. We will deliver each of these as a workshop, once a month, from January to November. We recommend doing the introduction training before the foundations.
Our foundations series consists of:
- Develop Leaders through Coaching
- Share Stories that Lead to Action
- Transform Resources into Power
- Navigate Conflict to Sustain Movements
- Track Metrics that Build Power
- Grow Commitment through Relationships
- Decide What to Act On
- Build Teams that Drive Campaigns
- Design a Winning Strategy
- Turn Strategy into Action
- Strengthen Practice through Reflection
You can sign up to our January workshops now!
Introduction to Transformative Community Organising will be held on Tue 13 Jan 2026 and Develop Leaders through Coaching will be held on Mon 19 Jan 2026.

Note
What will happen to existing online courses?
We will be archiving the current online courses. If you have started any of these courses, don’t worry, you will still be able to access them from your account dashboard for at least another year.
What does it mean to be an Act Build Change member?
Being part of our membership means building a relationship where we learn from each other and support you to be more effective in your organising.
You will get access to resources, events, and opportunities to connect with fellow organisers and changemakers working on a variety of issues. Our team will support you in your organising efforts and have your back throughout your wins and your losses. As well as access to the trainings in our new curriculum, our members get access to other programmes like our Coaching Pods and one-to-one support.
Our members contribute dues because we believe organising our own money is not just for cash flow – it is so much more than that. It creates new opportunities to create a culture and infrastructure that can lead to winning transformative change owned by the people who have the biggest stake in its future. You can read more about why we believe a membership model creates a stronger and more sustainable funding system in our Collecting Our Dues report.
We won’t turn anyone away from our community due to lack of funds. Get in touch if you are unable to pay for membership.
How to get involved
‘How do I sign up to these exciting new workshops and courses?’ We hear you ask.
First of all, sign up as a full member. This will get you access to all of our courses and workshops, as well as everything we mentioned earlier (non-members can pay to join individual workshops).
You can also sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about new events, new training programmes, blogs, opportunities, and more.
We are so excited about this new curriculum and to work with you and the rest of our community next year. So sign up to join us and get stuck in!
