Part Time
Digital Comms Officer at IWGB
Looking for a Digital Comms Officer to help to grow the union, win campaigns, educate and agitate workers and keep supporters up to date with union activity.
London | 25 Sep 2025
The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) is looking for a Digital Communications Officer to join our Communications Team in helping to grow the union, win campaigns, educate and agitate workers and keep supporters up to date with union activity. This additional team member will focus on disseminating content both internally and externally using our social media, website, email systems and WhatsApp.
In this role, you will be supporting the comms team in distributing content and updates internally and externally through various IWGB channels, including social media, websites, emails and WhatsApp groups. You will be working at the cutting edge of the trade union movement in Britain, taking on rogue employers to fight for equality, dignity and respect.
We strongly encourage anyone fluent in languages spoken among the workforces we organise, particularly Spanish, to apply, though this is not essential.
The role is 21 hours per week and fixed term for 1 year with the possibility of extension depending on funding. Our main office is based in Bethnal Green, London and we are open to discussing a mutually beneficial working location and pattern with the right candidate.
As part of the Communications Department in the IWGB union, you’ll be working alongside and reporting to the two existing Press and Communications Officers, as well as working with elected branch Communications Officers and officials from our membership. Some evening and weekend work to attend protests, events, and meetings will be needed, which can be reclaimed as Time Off In Lieu.
We’re looking for someone with potential and motivation, so if you don’t have everything on the person specification, but share our values and believe you have what it takes, then please apply!
We extend a warm welcome to all applicants, with additional encouragement for union members, those from racial or ethnic minorities, and women and people from marginalised genders to apply.
